Participatory and contemplative work broadcast outdoors for 3 months at Porte de la Chapelle, Paris 18th.
With « ola », the idea is to transcribe what emotions sport provides, how spectators can feel involved and transform this into a general communion.
From the individual to the group, from figurative to an abstract mass where colors and shapes explode, like the feelings that pass through us when we are spectators of sporting events such as the Olympic Games. The gesture of the ola is a universal movement, easy to reproduce which on a large scale, like a stadium, allows the sensation of a wave which disperses all along the stands.
A work on repetition and accumulation where I was able to ask the musician and artist Charlie Aubry for a musical arrangement for Dommage, one of his creations which fits perfectly with this idea. Charlie Aubry’s installations are like accumulations à la Jason Rhoades but in which each element is connected to another, generating surprising causalities like a disturbing organism which continually generates and specifies its own organization.
On the production, I decided to collaborate only with people living or working in Porte de la Chapelle, which is its only broadcasting location. Thus to fully explore the participatory part but also to directly have their feelings about this event that is the Olympic Games. By carrying out several wild castings and with their authorization, I was able to scan the faces and bodies of the different participants. Then recompose them in 3D, animate them and thus create a multitude of compositions by staging them. I only modified their clothes to create a more varied color palette to create a rhythm in the different transitions.

Œuvre participative et contemplative diffusée en extérieur durant 3 mois à porte de la Chapelle, Paris 18eme.
Avec « ola », l’idée est de retranscrire quelles émotions procure le sport, comment les spectateurs peuvent se sentir impliqués et transformer cela en une communion générale.
De partir de l’individu au groupe, de figuratif à une masse abstraite où les couleurs et les formes explosent, comme les sentiments qui nous traversent lorsque nous sommes spectateurs d’événements sportifs tels que les Jeux olympiques. Le geste de la ola est un mouvement universel, facile à reproduire qui à grande échelle, tel un stade, permet la sensation de vague qui se disperse tout le long des tribunes.
Un travail sur la répétition et l’accumulation où j’ai pu demander au musicien et artiste Charlie Aubry un arrangement musical pour Dommage, l’une de ses créations qui colle parfaitement à cette idée. Les installations de Charlie Aubry sont comme des accumulations à la Jason Rhoades mais dans lesquelles chaque élément serait connecté à un autre, générant des causalités surprenantes comme un organisme perturbant qui engendre et spécifie continuellement sa propre organisation.
Sur la production, j’ai décidé de collaborer uniquement avec des personnes habitant ou travaillant à Porte de la Chapelle, qui est son unique lieux de diffusion. Ainsi d’explorer totalement la partie participative mais aussi avoir directement leurs ressentis face a cet événement que sont les JO. En effectuant plusieurs castings sauvages et avec leur autorisation, j’ai pu scanner visages et corps des différents participants. Puis les recomposer en 3D, les animer et ainsi créer une multitudes de compositions en les mettant en scène. J’ai seulement modifié leurs vêtements pour ainsi créer une palette de couleur plus variée pour créer un rythme dans les différentes transitions.
